Equip-Safe's Orange Card Combo: Scissor & Boom Lift with Working at Heights (WHS)

Heights 01

When it comes to the construction industry, there are often types of work and machinery that require you to work at heights. These jobs can vary with the type of training and licensing they require. It can be a timely, costly and confusing process to make sure you have the right training to take on every job. That’s why Equip-Safe came up with our Orange Card Combo course. In just one and a half days you will complete the necessary training and have nationally recognised certifications for Scissor Lift, Boom Lift and Working Safely at Heights.

Whether you're on a commercial construction site, handling property maintenance, or working in warehousing and logistics, elevated work platforms (EWPs) are essential tools that demand the right training.

The Yellow Card Alternative

Equip-Safe’s Orange Card combo course is a nationally recognised alternative to a Yellow Card and work safely at heights. This course is designed to meet the practical needs of workers who use elevating work platforms in their day-to-day roles. This all-in-one course covers:

Scissor Lift Operation

Learn how to safely operate scissor lifts used for vertical access tasks. This includes pre-start inspections, control familiarisation, hazard identification, and safe operating procedures.

Boom Lift Operation (under 11m)

Gain hands-on training in the operation of boom lifts, including manoeuvring, load handling, emergency descent procedures, and shutdown processes.

Working Safely at Heights (WHS)

Learn how to correctly use harnesses, fall arrest systems, and other PPE while working at height. The training covers risk assessments, anchor points, and rescue plans as per WHS guidelines.

Each participant receives an Orange Card photo ID, valid for five years and recognised across Australia, proving your competency in all three areas.

Why Combo Training Makes Sense

Instead of completing separate training sessions for scissor lifts, boom lifts, and working at heights, Equip-Safe’s combo course saves you time, money, and admin by bundling them together.

This approach is not only more efficient—it’s also more practical. Many job sites require certification in all three areas, especially in high-risk industries like construction, infrastructure, and industrial maintenance. By completing the combo course, you're better prepared for the real-world demands of your role.

Who Needs This Training?

The Orange Card Combo course is essential for:

  • Construction workers accessing rooftops, frames, or upper-level scaffolding
  • Maintenance personnel servicing equipment or infrastructure at height
  • Warehouse and logistics staff using scissor or boom lifts to access high storage
  • Installers, electricians, painters, and others needing elevated access
  • Facility managers or safety supervisors ensuring on-site compliance

Whether you're working indoors or outdoors, this course equips you with the knowledge and practical skills to get the job done safely and professionally.

Boost Your Employability with One Certification

Employers are looking for versatile, safety-conscious workers, and this combo training proves you’re both.

With the Orange Card Combo on your resume, you demonstrate:

  • Competence with multiple types of elevated platforms
  • A solid understanding of WHS safety procedures at height
  • Readiness to work on a wider range of job sites
  • Compliance with industry-standard qualifications

In today’s competitive job market, holding nationally recognised credentials for EWPs and WHS can give you a real edge.
