EGT offers broad industry experience, state-of-the-art training, job security, flexibility, and great career opportunities in a range of industries in Australia and internationally.
EGT can help you achieve all of this by connecting you to a great future through an electrical trade.
The electrical trade reaches across a huge range of industries from mining, civil construction, engineering, security and telecommunications, through to residential and commercial building and construction. Once you are a qualified electrical tradesperson, your biggest challenge won’t be getting a job - it will be choosing which industry you want to work in and picking the job that is right for you.
By joining the electrical trade you will be part of one of the most dynamic and technically advanced trades around. The electrical industry is at the cutting-edge of technology – technology that is always adapting and improving to meet society’s future energy demands. Work with the latest in computer technology, software, control systems, building automation, robotics, audiovisual technology, and electronic components and appliances.
Not only is technology in the electrical industry always changing, the type of work you do and where you do it can also differ from day-to-day. Electricians work inside and outside building sites, mining operations, domestic and commercial buildings, industrial plants, factories and offices, and often travel to and from different work sites throughout the day.
Electricians are amongst the highest paid tradespeople. And, electricians who either run their own business, or become highly sought after due to specialisation in a field can earn far more than university graduates. From the very first day of your apprenticeship you will be earning an income, which increases each year until you are qualified.
The electrical trade can be flexible with working hours, which gives you great lifestyle benefits over other jobs. Early morning starts can mean finishing work mid-afternoon, giving you the time to hang out with friends, spend time with family, or even just put your feet up after a long day. Flexibility offers you the ability to do all the other things you can’t often do in a standard 9 to 5 job.
Once you have finished your electrical apprenticeship there is no limit to where your career can go. You might end up managing projects and people, doing further study in management or business, or using your trade as the basis for starting university studies in a related field, such as electrical engineering.
