EGT apprentices Tessa Walley and Mia Joubert delivered a phenomenal result at the 2026 Master Builders WA Apprentice Awards, earning recognition among Western Australia’s most outstanding emerging tradespeople.

The evening belonged to Tessa, who completed a remarkable sweep of five major awards and one finalist recognition:

  • Most Outstanding Female Apprentice of the Year
  • Most Outstanding Second-Year Apprentice
  • Most Outstanding Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Apprentice of the Year
  • Most Outstanding Electrical Apprentice
  • Overall Best Apprentice of the Year 2026
  • Andy Peppercorn Apprentice Safety Award (Finalist)

Being named Apprentice of the Year was the crowning achievement in an exceptional evening for Tessa, recognising not only her technical ability, but also her commitment, professionalism, work ethic, and future within the electrical industry.

Fellow EGT apprentice Mia Joubert also achieved an outstanding result, being selected as a finalist in three highly competitive categories:

  • Most Outstanding Second-Year Apprentice of the Year
  • Most Outstanding Female Apprentice
  • Most Outstanding Electrical Apprentice

Together, Tessa and Mia demonstrated the exceptional talent, determination, and professionalism of the next generation entering Western Australia’s electrical industry.

ETI Chief Executive Officer Carl Copeland said Tessa and Mia’s achievements reflected their exceptional individual efforts and dedication to their apprenticeships.

“Tessa’s five awards, including the prestigious Apprentice of the Year award, are an extraordinary achievement. For Mia to also be recognised as a finalist across three major categories makes the result even more impressive,” Mr Copeland said.

“These young women have demonstrated tremendous ability, professionalism, and determination. They should both be enormously proud of what they have achieved. The result is thoroughly deserved, and everyone across ETI and EGT is incredibly proud of them.”

Women are not just entering the industry. They are leading it.

The awards also delivered a clear message about the growing contribution of women within the electrical trade.

EGT Operations Manager Gary Livett said it was sensational to see two women apprentices receive such significant recognition on the night.

“Seeing Tessa and Mia recognised with the very best apprentices in Western Australia was sensational,” Mr Livett said.

“Both of them work hard, take enormous pride in what they do, and consistently show the attitude and abilities needed to succeed in the industry. We can’t be prouder of what they have achieved.”

Recognition thoroughly deserved

Awards provide a moment to celebrate, but they also reflect the work completed long before anyone steps onto a stage. EGT proudly supports women within the electrical industry. We passionately work alongside apprentices such as Tessa and Mia as they build their skills and establish themselves within the trade.

To Tessa and Mia: congratulations on an outstanding achievement.

You did not simply represent EGT at these awards. You absolutely smashed it.
