DR AS/NZS 4836:2022 Safe working on or near low-voltage electrical installations and equipment
The draft standard has been significantly rewritten and is now a much more prescriptive document.
The major changes that will affect contractors include:
- Increased requirements on supervision
- Heavy emphasis on risk assessment to minimise risk associated with working on or near electrical equipment
- Arc flash requirements have been increased
- PPE requirements have been raised for all electrical related tasks
Members are encouraged to review the draft standard and provide feedback for Standards Australia prior to 1 June 2022.
NECA National have compiled feedback received to date and released a webinar discussing the proposed changes.
The webinar, draft standard, compiled feedback and blank feedback template are all available to ECA WA Members here on TKB.
